Can someone critique my writing? Rough draft of my novel opening. Feel free to be brutally honest!?

No offense intended... but I stopped reading after the first mistake: you put 'though' instead of 'thought'. It sort of put me off reading the rest. You need to sort that out before people get the wrong impression, especially if you're really a good writer.
