What does it mean when an ex boyfriend asks you to wear his sweatshirt?

ok well my ex bf and i broke up about a year and two months ago but we are still great friends. we still have our big arguments but then i don't talk to him for a while then he is like my best friend again when we see each other. but just about a week ago my friend lj went inside his house and left my ex and me standing outside at night alone and i was freezing i kept shivering then out of no where he said, do you want my sweatshirt? here and he took off his hat for me to wear and his sweatshirt and his gloves. i was cold too but he said he didn't care. he keeps sending me mixed signals and i don't know what to do about it...what does it mean??
