Cross Country and Long Jump?

You are multi-talented and have various options. Based on your basketball and what you do in track I would think you are speed oriented with fast twitch muscle fibers but your cross country is contrary to that. While XC and LJ will contradict each other, so will the XC and the 400 or XC and the HJ. I'm surprised with your talent in XC your coach doesn't have you run longer distances in track. Anyway, the solution to being successful in all the things you do is not to do sooo many things and prioritize the ones you do do. Run cross country and play basketball. Whatever you do in track might have contradictory training but it won't negatively impact your XC so don't worry about what events you pick to compete in but I suggest 2 running events and one field event. Field events are very technical and you are just starting with them so it they will take time, time you could be focusing on getting to 51 and 2:04. Given your cross country background I would have thought 800 and 1600 but your call. The HJ training would obviously help you in basketball but ask your coach where you have the most potential, HJ or LJ. Good luck in developing your considerable skills.
